Insurance for vehicle:
To be insure with a particular vehicle you need an insurance certificate (or proof of insurance) this one guarantees that this particular vehicle possesses third-party insurance as required by law. The insurer draws up the insurance certificate.
Third-party insurance:
This compulsory insurance covers the third-party liability of the owner, user, or driver of a motor vehicle for personal injury and materiel damages. The reason for the mandatory nature of this insurance is in order to protect an injured party who only has a guarantee if the user who assumes civil liability is solvent.
Partially comprehensive insurance:
Distinction is made between partially comprehensive and fully-comprehensive insurance. Motor-vehicle partially comprehensive insurance covers damages caused to the policyholder's vehicle following an insured event. In partially comprehensive insurance the following causes of damage are covered - fire, lightning, explosion, short-circuit, natural event, theft, glass-breakage and damage caused by animals. Fully comprehensive insurance:
Motor-vehicle fully comprehensive insurance covers damages included in the partially comprehensive and also covers collision damages caused to the policyholder's vehicle following an insured event. Fully comprehensive insurance can also covers parking damages, under some conditions.

Gross negligence:
Gross negligence is committed when a person breaks an elementary rule of caution
which, under the same circumstances, would have been imposed on any reasonable
person. If damages are caused as a result of gross negligence, insurance cover may be reduced.
If coverage is agreed for gross negligence, the insurance company shall waive its right of recovery due to it from you or the insured parties under Article 65 paragraph 3 of the Swiss Road Traffic on grounds of having caused the insured event through gross negligence as defined in Article 14 paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Swiss Federal Law on Insurance Contracts, with the exception of cases in which the driver caused the accident while under the influence of alcohol of drugs or due to misuse of medication, and cases where the accident was caused with intent or with indirect intent.

No claims bonus insurance:
No claims bonus systems are best-known in third party motor vehicle insurance and fully comprehensive motor vehicle insurance. Such a system can result in reduced premiums since, if no claim is made on a policy, a bonus (discount) is granted to the policyholder. A bonus system comes into effect after one year of accident-free operation.
If coverage is agreed for a Bonus protection, the insurance company shall waive its right of changing the bonus. Each insurance companies can have there own system.

Parking insurance:
Loss or damage caused while parked
This shall be understood to mean damage to the vehicle declared in the policy whilst it is parked, caused by unknown motor vehicles or bicycles. In the event of loss or damage caused while parked, the insurance company shall only be obliged to pay indemnity provided you have arranged for a charge to be brought against the person or persons unknown and have provided a statement to the police.

Excess:
Some insurance companies make insured persons bear part of the damages resulting from an insured event, either in the form of a percentage or of a fixed sum. Excesses avoid insurance companies from being inundated with minor claims. Cost participation is a synonym for excess.
